There are two recurring issues I hear when it comes to wearing vintage, in general. The first is, "I like to be comfortable and wear casual clothes." The second is a variation of that, "I don't want to look like I'm in a costume." There's validity in both of these statements. We do live in a time when people want clothing and accessories that are comfortable to wear (no over-starched collars, please!) and looks effortless.
Here are some of my takes on mixing my Neo-Victorian inspired jewelry with contemporary clothing, courtesy of Polyvore.
For the daytime look, I went fairly monochromatic as far as how the copper colored earrings and copper/muted purple bracelets go with the tan sweater. Keeping a neutral color palette allows for the textures and patterns to take the lead.
In the evening look, the copper earrings play off of the gold toe caps of the shoes. I like the hard-soft contrast between the earrings & shoes and the draped cowl dress.
I will be adding more how-to-style suggestions on my Polyvore page, and I will be doing weekly Outfit of the Day posts on my Instagram account to show styling suggestions for Moon Star Adri jewelry using my own clothes.
So, what do you think? Were these suggestions helpful? Is there a specific piece you'd like styling advice on? Let me know in the comments!
